Why It's Not Smart to Call Women Conservatives 'Whores'

Conservative women should be strongly criticized. But using gendered language to attack them doesn't help progressives.

When Alan Grayson called a female corporate lobbyist a "K-Street whore"—and was attacked as crude and sexist at the same time that he was lauded as gutsy and honest—he played a role in a familiar script: hero of the left (MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher) attacks female villain (Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin) using sexist language. Progressive feminists soul-search about liberal misogyny. Mainstream media talk about sexism for 5 seconds. Then the media move on, and no one learns a thing. Repeat.

How about B-word? I think some hateful conservative commentators do deserve this tittle...

Schwarzenegger Sent a "Fuck You" Message Through Acrostic Poem.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger typically attaches a message to bills he signs or vetoes telling lawmakers why he took the action.

A Democratic assemblyman who heckled the governor during a recent event in San Francisco actually received two messages: the veto letter itself and a not-so-subtle rebuke creatively hidden within it.

Like a find-the-word puzzle, the second message was visible by stringing together the first letter of each line down the left-hand margin. It consisted of a common four-letter vulgarity followed by the letters "y-o-u."

"My goodness. What a coincidence," said Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear. "I suppose when you do so many vetoes, something like this is bound to happen."

--> I love when Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLean made an innocent remark, "My goodness. What a coincidence."...very creative indeed...

A wary respect

Oct 22nd 2009
From The Economist print edition

“OUR future history will be more determined by our position on the Pacific facing China than by our position on the Atlantic facing Europe,” said the American president as he contemplated the extraordinary commercial opportunities that were opening up in Asia. More than a hundred years after Theodore Roosevelt made this prediction, American leaders are again looking across the Pacific to determine their own country’s future, and that of the rest of the world. Rather later than Roosevelt expected, China has become an inescapable part of it"

I wonder can we have a win-win environment instead of a zero-sum atmosphere? It's 21st century we don't need a one dominant power but equal friends...

A Baby "Too Fat" for a Health Care Coverage?

"Imagine having a perfectly healthy two month old baby and having your insurance company tell you they won't cover him. One local family says that's what's happened to them.

Baby Alex is a happy, adorable, big baby. And now at three months old, the family's insurance company says he's not eligible for coverage.

Alex eats well, is growing fast and has no pre–existing conditions. But his mom Kelli says their insurance company says he's just too big. “Insurance standards say if he's above 95 percent he's uninsurable."

Because of his size, Alex was turned down for health insurance, his height and weight put him in the 99th percentile according to CDC guidelines.

Kelli says it’s ridiculous, “It's frustrating, it's very frustrating."

Dr. Speedie at Rocky Mountain Health Plans says all babies are evaluated for insurance the same way. "In children it's based on a combination of height and weight."

But he says it’s also possible for a baby to be above the 95, or "cutoff" percentile, and still be healthy.

He says, “Your weight is not an absolute determinate of health." But says as with all insurance companies, the line has to be drawn somewhere. “Unfortunately when we try to sell people insurance, a number has to be used as a cutoff."

Speedie admits, even when it comes to adults, it's a flawed system, "It's a combination based on height, weight and a fudge factor."

But, he says they have to go on what works for the masses, not the individual, and says it's just one more reason his industry is leaning toward reform."

This is out of control!! Would "too stupid" be the next "Pre-Existing Condition" ? This is why we need a big healthcare reform.

Seriously the way they are talking and standing look like they are zombies that are about to be ascended to live with their heavenly father in another galaxy...These people said they would have no choice to live their life as they believe? How about those gay people or the supporters who believe in the gay right?
